Who We Are
A Leader since 1944 in preserving the freedoms secured by Amreica's Armed Forces, AMVETS provides support for veterans and the active military in procuring their earned entitlements, as well as community service and legislative reform that enhances the quality of life for this nation's citizens and veterans alike. AMVETS is one of the largest Congressionally-chartered Veterans' Service Organizations in the United States, and includes members from each branch of the military, including the National Guard and Reserves. Department of Maryland AMVETS
The Department of Maryland has been an active part of the AMVETS family since 1946. While major concentrations are located in Western Maryland, the Department is dedicated to serving veterans throughout the State of Maryland. The Department is comprised of 17 Posts which range from Denton on the Eastern Shore, to Waldorf, to the greater Baltimore and Washington, DC areas, to the Western Maryland sites of Hagerstown, Frederick, Thurmont, and Middletown. You must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States since World War II - OR
You must be on Active Duty - OR
You must be a current member of the National Guard or Reserve Forces or have served in the National Guard or Reserve Forces since World War II.
2. Honorable Service
You must have been honorably discharged (a DD214 may be required as proof of eligibility) - OR
You must show that you are a current, active duty member of the Armed Forces (valid ID card or current duty assignment orders may be required) - OR
You must show that you are a current or former member of the National Guard or Reserve Forces. Current members may be required to produce a valid set of assignment orders. Former members may be required to present a DD214 or other proof of honorable service.
You must complete an application, present proof of honorable service, and provide the annual or lifetime membership fee.
